About Ann Robinson ...
As Ann Robinson tells it, if it were not for George Pal, and his movie "THE WAR OF THE WORLDS", I would not be interviewed. Well let me tell you,...
Ann Robinson was born in Hollywood, at the Hollywood Hospital, went to Hollywood High School, her father worked at the Bank of Hollywood, on the corner of Hollywood and Vine.
Growing up in Hollywood, California, Ms. Robinson was exposed to Hollywood and its glamour at a very early age. She loved and lived Hollywood, emulated stardom, and fantasized being a film actress. As a young girl of three, her father taught her how to ride horses. This lead to her lifelong love of riding as a professional horsewoman. Her riding abilities opened the door to her first movie as a stunt rider. Ms. Robinson doubled for Shelly Winters in "FRENCHIE" and starred and rode in many western movies later in her career, "GUN BROTHERS", "GUN DUEL AT DURANGO" and "CIMARRON KID" with Audie Murphy.
After breaking into movies as a stunt girl, Ms. Robinson had parts in major films, such as "IMATATION OF LIFE", "JULIE", "MIDNIGHT MOVIE MASSACRE" and is most remembered for her Starring Role in the film of Jack Webb's "DRAGNET" and George Pal's 1953 version of "THE WAR OF THE WORLDS". Ms. Robinson was later cast as the mother in law of Tom Cruise, the grandmother of Dakota Fanning, in the Steven Spielberg - Tom Cruise 2005 version of H.G. Wells' "WAR OF THE WORLDS".
Look for the DVD releases' of George Pal's 1953 updated print and the 2005 Spielberg - Cruise film version, released in November 2005 featuring Ms. Robinson's interviews and her comments on both films. Sure to be a collectors treasure for the true Science Fiction Fan.

She has made her collection of photos, with an autograph, available for fans to purchase. Everywhere Ms. Robinson has been, she has been invited back by the gracious producers and fans, to relive the 50's and 60's glamour days of Hollywood and of her experiences with Mr. Cruise and Mr. Spielberg on the set of "War of the Worlds." This film was a labor of love for the Cruise - Spielberg team and as Ms. Robinson tells it "H.G. Wells and George Pal would approve." Behind the scene photos may be available at a later date as soon as permission is granted.
As told to me by Ann Robinson: Upon arriving on the set of War of the Worlds in Bayone, NJ, Tom Cruise escorted her to meet Steven Spielberg. Needless to say, She had a speech ready "I am so very honored to represent Paramount and George Pal in your film." Spielberg replied "did you see ET, remember when ET placed his hand on the boy's shoulder; well I didn't do it for Paramount, I didn't do it Geroge Pal; I did it for you. I did it for you," with that, I saw electricity come out of his finger pointed at me. "I did it for you". Here I was standing in the presence of the world renowned director and actor; both so very real and excited about me being in their film. I had a wonderful time being queen for the moment; on that A list again after 50 years. I have the honor of being in the 1953, 2005 and TV versions of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds. Leaving the set set for the last time, I said to Spielberg "I am so happy you wanted me and not my car". With that said, Mr. Spielberg replied "did you hear what she said? no one has ever said that to me".
A book is in the works of Ann Robinson's career and memoirs to be published in the future. Her recount of events, people she met and parties she attended relate to the Gloamour Days of 50's Hollywood. Her stories promises to entertain and offer insight to the politics of the old Hollywood studio system. Look for the titles "My Photo Memories", "Red Hair Aflying", and "Seven Years is a Lot of Bull" as only Ann Robinson can tell it.
